Citric acid is one of the most widespread plant acids, found in almost all fruits, wood, mushrooms and even tobacco. Lemon juice contains 5% to 7%. It plays a central role in the metabolism of all living organisms that produce it naturally.
It can be used in a wide variety of ways: as a food additive (E330), as an additive in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, as a soda acidifier and as a pH regulator.
It’s also a limescale remover (it descales, cleans and dissolves limescale) and a formidable antioxidant. Citric acid is totally biodegradable and is one of those basic household products that should be found in every home.
