Manufactured in Western Europe from common natural materials (chalk, salt), they are calcined (sodium carbonate) and crystallized soda ash. <\/p><blockquote style=\"text-align: justify;\"><h3><b>Is it the same as baking soda or caustic soda? No! <\/b><\/h3><\/blockquote><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At first glance, baking soda and soda crystals look the same: a white powdery mineral. But <b>watch out<\/b>! <\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Soda crystals have a <b>much more basic pH and are therefore more irritating than baking soda<\/b>. They are <b>totally unsuitable for consumption<\/b>, and should be <b>handled with care <\/b>and under well-ventilated conditions. <\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They are not, however, <b>as dangerous as the caustic soda<\/b>, or sodium hydroxide, used in soap manufacture. <b>Caustic soda, which is extremely corrosive, should not be used in household cleaning products<\/b>, but only in the manufacture of soap, and only with training in its use.<\/p><h3><b>In terms of use and application&#8230;<\/b><\/h3><p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-2687 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/234b4-dea1bc_b553908110ca426389d1ee3606168151mv2.png?resize=373%2C373&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"soda crystals\" width=\"373\" height=\"373\"><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It can be used to <b>clean<\/b>, <b>degrease<\/b> and <b>disinfect without excessive scrubbing<\/b>. Soda crystals are extremely versatile and highly effective! <b>Environmentally friendly<\/b>, it&#8217;s the product of choice as a powerful degreasing agent and multi-purpose cleaner. <\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Its degreasing power makes it particularly interesting in your dishwashing liquid or cake dish! Few natural substances can match its anti-fat effect. <\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This <b>water-soluble <\/b>mineral <b>powder <\/b>cleans, deodorizes and saponifies grease. Its alkaline (basic) pH <b>neutralizes acids<\/b>, <b>descales<\/b> and <b>dissolves fats<\/b>. <\/p><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It can be used to <b>clean enamelled surfaces<\/b> (bathtub, WC, washbasin&#8230;),<b>marble, worktops, hobs or sinks<\/b>, and is extremely effective. It can also be used to clean <b>heavily soiled surfaces <\/b> such as hoods, dustbins, oven doors, toilets and refrigerators. <\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It can be used to <b>unclog plumbing<\/b> (clogged with organic matter) in place of baking soda. Place 2 tablespoons in the drain, sprinkle with white vinegar, leave to react for a few hours or overnight. Then rinse with 1 liter of boiling water.  <\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In home detergents<\/b>, its softening power enhances the effectiveness of the usual cleaning agents, especially when the water in your home is very hard.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">This makes it a good ally<b> against limescale <\/b>for softening laundry and maintaining washing machine and dishwasher pipes.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>For DIY<\/b>, soda crystals make it easy to remove wallpaper and old paint.<\/li><\/ul><blockquote><h2>Cake recipe<\/h2><\/blockquote><p><b>Fancy a little recipe? In your cake dish, it will also act as a pH corrector to improve skin tolerance. Read a whole article on citric acid <b><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/en\/all-about-citric-acid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/u><\/b>!  <\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/produit\/cristaux-de-soude\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>soda crystals <\/b><\/a>that remove grease, discussed at length here \ud83d\ude42<\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/produit\/sodium-coco-sulfate-scs-en-granules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>SCS<em>(Sodium Coco Sulfate) <\/em><\/b><\/a><em>as a<\/em>surfactant, or detergent (the substance that traps grease). Of plant origin and derived from coconut oil, it is<b>very well tolerated<\/b> by the skin. It is used in formulas for <b>solid shampoos,<\/b> <b>dermatological lotions<\/b> or <b>cake dishes<\/b>, providing a <b>rich, creamy lather<\/b>.  <\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You could replace it with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/produit\/sodium-cocoyl-isethionate-sci-en-granules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SCI (<em>sodium cocoyl isethionate<\/em>)<\/a>, which has just as strong detergent power and is milder, but we&#8217;ve opted for SCS, which is more economical when it comes to making a cleaning product. Nevertheless, if you have SCI on hand, it will work just fine. <\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is <b>well tolerated by the skin<\/b>, cleansing without aggression. We also appreciate its <b>rich, soft and abundant foam<\/b>. <\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Above all, protect your respiratory tract and mucous membranes when handling SCS and SCI (mask and ventilation hood), as these substances are extremely volatile and irritating. Once your product is dry, the cake dish is safe to use. <\/b><\/p><h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Dish cake recipe.
