And it took us a long time to find the one we liked.<\/p><p>But today, we&#8217;ve got <b>something pretty cool for you<\/b>! At lower cost, and with a minimum of waste, of course!<\/p><blockquote><h2>In fact, the super-efficient dishwashing powder, made from perfectly clean ingredients, is almost a myth in itself!<\/h2><\/blockquote><p>1001 recipes can be found on the web, which theoretically work for a few weeks, until a white veil appears on glasses and cutlery tarnishes, at which point you&#8217;re ready to switch to bicarbonate of soda to remove these unsightly marks!<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sitetest3356.files.wordpress.com\/2019\/11\/885ca-dea1bc_84f459098f6942389d034ed7f5cf579emv2.jpeg?resize=267%2C401\" width=\"267\" height=\"401\"><\/p><p>Some recipes for homemade dishwashing powder are more effective than others, but in the end they&#8217;re often made up of the same ingredients in different proportions: <b>baking soda and soda crystals<\/b>,<b>citric acid<\/b> and <b>sodium percarbonate<\/b>. These substances <strong>are non-toxic<\/strong> to human health and the aquatic environment, and <strong>are rapidly biodegradable<\/strong> in nature. <\/p><p>Basically, in addition to the choice of ingredients, there are <b>several parameters<\/b> that will influence the effectiveness of your &#8220;homemade&#8221; powder:<\/p><ul><li>the <b>hardness of the water in your area<\/b>, i.e. its lime content<\/li><li><b>the age of your dishwasher<\/b> and<\/li><li><b>the cleanliness of your filter<\/b>.<\/li><\/ul><p>That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s always <strong>difficult to guarantee the effectiveness of a recipe for all dishwashers<\/strong>!<\/p><p>Don&#8217;t forget to clean <b>the filter<\/b> regularly, as your dishwasher will clean even more efficiently!<\/p><p>So here&#8217;s our <b>recipe for homemade dishwashing powder <\/b>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Mix in a large jar:<\/p><ul><li><b>60g <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/en\/produit\/baking-soda-technical-1-kg-menage-naturel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baking soda technical<\/a><\/b><\/li><li><b>80g <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/produit\/cristaux-de-soude\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soda crystals<\/a><\/b><\/li><li><b>80g<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/en\/produit\/citric-acid-1-kg-ecological-cleaning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">citric acid<\/a><\/b><\/li><li><b>80g <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/produit\/percarbonate-de-soude\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sodium percarbonate<\/a><\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><b> <\/b><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Add 2-3 teaspoons to the appropriate compartment and run your wash cycle at 60-70\u00b0C.<\/p><blockquote><h2><b>This is a powder variant, not a tablet.  <\/b>Why?<\/h2><\/blockquote><p>To make the little tablets, you&#8217;ll need a small amount of water. If you add even a small quantity of water to your mixture, the citric acid will react with the bicarbonate and soda crystals to create an effervescence (a light pschhhh), signalling that your mixture is ready for use. In the powdered version of your mixture, without the addition of water, the citric acid remains inert, thus retaining all its effectiveness for the moment when it&#8217;s in the dishwasher, cycle on.  <\/p><p>And powder is<b> even quicker than tablets<\/b>!<\/p><p>We therefore recommend that you keep your dishwasher powder well<b>protected from humidity<\/b>, in an airtight jar, so that it doesn&#8217;t become a big hard lump.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31137\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1c547-dea1bc_ba508a3e3db14617862ba34f4ec05c21mv2.jpeg?resize=480%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Homemade dishwasher powder\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1c547-dea1bc_ba508a3e3db14617862ba34f4ec05c21mv2.jpeg?w=480&amp;ssl=1 480w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lespaillettesvertes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1c547-dea1bc_ba508a3e3db14617862ba34f4ec05c21mv2.jpeg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p><h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Precautions :  <\/b><\/h2><ul><li>Mix <b>under your kitchen hood<\/b>, so as not to breathe in airborne powders. <b>Avoid direct skin contact <\/b>(soda crystals are corrosive).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Identify the contents of <\/b>the jar by labelling it or writing directly on the glass, so that it&#8217;s not mistaken for a jar of sugar or salt! And, of course, keep out of the reach of small hands. <\/li><\/ul><h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Additional information:  <\/b><\/h2><ul><li style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Replace rinse aid with white vinegar<\/b>! It&#8217;s cheaper, healthier and just as effective as a scale remover and dishwasher cleaner.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>1x a month, do a <b>good vacuum wash<\/b>, with a large glass of vinegar placed on one of the trays, or citric acid directly in the powder compartment. This removes grease and other residues. Accompanied by <b>filter cleaning<\/b>, of course&#8230;  <\/li><\/ul><blockquote><h2>And<b> if you still want to use ready-made tablets<\/b> from<b> time to time<\/b>?<\/h2><\/blockquote><p>There are a few stand-out brands that combine efficacy and non-toxicity, but it&#8217;s not easy to find your way around.
